Where can I travel from, and where can I go?

With this Air New Zealand sale, you can jet off from major cities across Australia, including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Cairns, the Sunshine Coast, and Perth.

The destinations on offer are all equally exciting – explore the scenic wonders of New Zealand with flights to Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, and Queenstown. For those seeking the bright lights of the USA, choose from flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, and Chicago. And if you have a taste for tropical isles, set your sights on the South Pacific islands, including Tahiti, Samoa, Tonga, and the Cook Islands.

Looking to travel to destinations other than Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington or Queenstown in New Zealand? The Kiwi carrier is offering add-ons to other cities across the country for just $50 each way. Here’s where you can go:

• North Island: Gisborne, Hamilton, Kerikeri, Napier, New Plymouth, Palmerston, Rotorua, Taupō, Tauranga and Whangarei.
• South Island: Blenheim, Dunedin, Hokitika, Invercargill, Nelson and Timaru.

When are these cheap flights available?

The travel window is actually pretty wide with this sale. Availability starts as early as this month (February) and running through December, 2024.

Exact dates to vary a bit from route to route and most of the school holidays and peak public holidays aren’t included.

What we do love, is that there’s plenty of availability during the New Zealand ski season. If you’re not a skier, it’s a beautiful time to see snow-capped mountains, relax in hot springs and enjoy fewer crowds. Plus, it’s a very affordable time to travel outside of the ski resort areas.

What’s included in the price?

This depends on where you’re going.

With the base fare (just called “Seat”) for flights to New Zealand, you’ll get just that. A seat on the plane, but not one of your choice. You can also bring a carry-on bag up to 7kg.

For flights to the South Pacific islands, you’ll also get the base “Seat” fare at these prices with the same inclusions.

Flights to the USA, however, do include a bit more. The lowest-priced fare is Air New Zealand’s “Economy”, which includes in-flight meals and drinks along with in-flight entertainment. Unfortunately baggage isn’t included in the base fare.

Can I get any frequent flyer points?

Yes! If you’re an Airpoints member you can earn points with all Air New Zealand fares.

Overall, how good is this sale?

For Air New Zealand, it’s pretty good! The airline is often bit pricer than some of the competitors in the region. If you’re looking to travel to some of New Zealand’s more regional centres, then it’s your best bet.

The airline was also dubbed as one of the world’s safest, most on-time and best for its economy class in recent years.
