When is the cheapest time to fly to Fiji?

Luckily, prices for flights to Fiji don’t vary hugely from month to month like other destinations (we’re looking at you, Europe!). But, the autumn and winter months from March to August tend to bring cheaper flights.

That said, it really does depend on the time of year that it currently is or whether there are any flight sales on at the moment that can offer deep discounts.

How much will it cost to travel to Fiji at this time?

Expect to pay between $425-$475 return for a flight to Fiji from either Sydney or Brisbane. Flights from Melbourne tend to cost a bit more.

According to Kayak, you’ll save on average 6% by flying during the off-season.

During a good sale from Jetstar, you may even be able to score sub-$400 fares — especially during one of its famous return-for-free sales.

But, is this the worst time to go to Fiji?

No. Or at least for the most part. Fiji’s wet season is from November to April, which are the rainiest and most humid months to visit.

Wet weather peaks from January to March, so heading from April onwards should reward you with ideal. weather.

When is the best-value time to fly to Fiji?

Travelling from April to August, with the exception of school holidays, will likely be the best-value time to head to Fiji. You’ll have cheap flights, less competition for accommodation against families forced to travel during the breaks, and you’ll be able to escape the Aussie winter.

💡Cheaptrips tip: We visited Fiji in April and didn’t find our holiday to be affected much by the rain and certainly wouldn’t rule out another visit at that time.

What’s the cheapest airline flying to Fiji?

Jetstar is the cheapest airline flying between Australia and Fiji. This is followed by Virgin Australia, which does sometimes have some pretty competitive fares — especially during its weekly Happy Hour sales.

At the time of writing, Jetstar does only fly direct between Sydney and Nadi (Fiji’s main airport and the closest to the Denarau Island resorts). Flights from Melbourne are due to take off before the end of 2023. You can also book connecting flights via Sydney from cities like Adelaide or Perth.
