Is EOFY the best time to book travel in 2024?
To be straight, we actually find that Black Friday and Boxing Day are actually the two best times to book travel.
That said, EOFY can still boast some great deals, especially if you’re hoping to travel within the next few months and waiting until November or December will be too late. But, most travel companies wait for the deals in the latter half of the year.
How do I make sure I get the best deals?
Like any other major sale period, we’d recommend the following to get the best EOFY travel deals:
- Be open to a new destination: Not everywhere will be discounted, so it’s better to approach EOFY sales with an open mind. Try choosing a type of holiday rather than a destination. We’re pretty confident if you’re after a beach holiday, you’ll be able to get one. But if you pick Vanuatu, specifically, you may end up disappointed.
- Be a bit flexible with your dates: If you’re hoping to score a deal during a school holiday or over Christmas and New Years, we can tell you now you’ll likely be disappointed. The first dates to go on sale are always during the off- and shoulder-season. On the bright side, you’ll also be met with fewer tourists when you arrive.
- Be online as early as possible: If you know a sale is about to start (some companies give you a head up or share it on their social media accounts), get on their websites as early as possible. We’ve been known to refresh Jetstar’s website at the stroke of midnight just to get the best deals during it’s super-strong sales.
