How to find the best Scoot flight sales

Other than checking in with us for the latest Scoot deals listed above or on our flight deals page, there’s a few tricks we use to staying on top of sales.

🗓 Know when to fly

When there isn’t a sale with specific dates available, try searching for flights during the off- or shoulder-season for your destination as you’ll likely get the best price. This would also mean avoiding flying during peak holiday times like Christmas, New Year’s, Easter and any other school holiday.

Wondering just how much you can save by doing this? Flights closer to Christmastime were about double the price of an October departure.

🔎 Check Scoot’s website directly

Frustratingly, Scoot doesn’t have a dedicated deals page for flights from Australia. But, when it does have a sale, it will usually update its homepage with the details and a list of fares.

📨 Sign up for the Scoot deals newsletter

Become a Scoot member for free to get the latest deals sent to you by the airline’s newsletter. Even better, if you sign up you can…

Take advantage of the birthday discount

If you were lucky enough to become a member before Scoot stopped issuing them, discount codes for up to 15% off a flight would be sent to you for your birthday. The code was valid for 12 months from the date it was sent.

Why we’d choose to fly with Scoot

  • Get 10kg of carry-on baggage, compared to the 7kg most airlines allow
  • Connect to your destination at Singapore’s Changi Airport, which is an ideal spot to spend a few hours during a stopover
  • Fly comfortably between Australia and Asia on a Dreamliner 787

Why we wouldn’t choose to fly with Scoot

  • If we need to check bags, we’ll need to pay
  • Food isn’t included (but available for a cost) and some flights can be eight hours or longer
  • The network isn’t quite as big as competitor AirAsia

Frequently asked questions about Scoot flight sales

How far in advance do I need to book a Scoot flight?

You’ll want to book your flights at least a month in advance — if not more.
We checked dates within the next few weeks and a month away and found prices dropped by a few hundred dollars once we hit the month mark.

Is Scoot a good airline to fly though?

Yes! Having flown many budget carriers in our day, we’re big fans of Scoot. As we mentioned above, it allows 10kg of carry-on luggage, uses Dreamliners and flies direct from a bunch of Australian cities to Singapore’s Changi Airline. It’s a great airport to spend a few hours in during a layover compared to Kuala Lumpur, where most AirAsia transfers will be.

Is Jetstar or Scoot better?

In our experience, we think Scoot is a better airline for flying to and within Asia. If you’re flying from Australia, Jetstar currently only flies direct from one city (Melbourne), where Scoot offers flights from three (Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.

You’ll also save on fees if you need a bit more than Jetstar’s 7kg carry-on limit.

Where can I travel when there’s a Scoot flight sale?

Scoot’s main market is within Asia, so during a sale you can usually score a deal to places like Thailand, Bali, Malaysia, Vietnam and, of course, it’s hub, Singapore.

But, if you don’t mind flying long haul on a budget carrier, it also flies to a few European destinations like Berlin and Athens.
