Our secret to finding cheap flight tickets online

This secret is so good, we don’t even know if we should be telling you this. šŸ¤«

If you’re like us, sometimes you just want to book a trip. You don’t care where. You don’t care when. But, you do care that you get a cheap flight.

You’ve probably read on many of our flight deals pages about how much we love Skyscanner’s calendar function, but here’s how to make the absolute most of it.

First, you’ll need to start off with your departure city. Since we look for deals departing all over Australia, we usually just leave this as “Australia (AU)”, but you can type in your preferred departure airport too. Then, select “Everywhere” as the destination. It will come up as “Explore everywhere” with an icon of an island with a palm tree.

Next, you’ll need to select some dummy dates. Choose “Whole month” and then click on any month. It really doesn’t matter when, because in the next step we’ll be eliminating this ā€” but you can’t get there without choosing one! Once you do, click “Search”.

You’ll then be brought to a page with a whole list of destinations with tempting prices. But, resist the temptation! These prices are just for your dummy month, after all. There could be an even better cheap flight out there with your name on it.

Here’s where it gets interesting. On this new page, you’ll be presented with a pretty long URL at the top of it. But, you only need the part of it up to the question mark. Highlight this and copy it.

Then, hop on over to an incognito window and enter that in.

Et, voila!

You’ll now be able to see a list of all the cheapest prices, in all the months, for all the destinations from your selected departure point. These are real prices that real users have found in the last eight days.

Then, just have a scroll, find somewhere you want to go and book as usual!
