Can I get any frequent flyer points?
Sure can! Air New Zealand’s program, called Airpoints, allows you to earn frequent flyer dollars with any fare, no matter what tier of ticket you purchase or whether it’s on sale. You’ll earn more dollars and status points with a more-inclusive fare, but you’ll still be able to earn with a basic ticket.

Overall, how good is this sale?
Aside from fares to Rarotonga, pretty good!
You can save hundreds compared both the regular price and what other airlines are charging for these routes. For example, we’re seeing flights between Sydney and Nuku’alofa in Tonga for $678. The average price according to Kayak data is closer to $800.
We also checked flights to Samoa, and you can save $140 by flying with Air New Zealand compared to Virgin. (Unfortunately it does mean a stopover, but it’s a significant savings).
