South Pacific flights down to $509 return in new Qantas sale

From the peaks of New Zealand to the beaches of Fiji, this Qantas sale is delivering cheap flights to some of your favourite islands.

Getaways to tropical, South Pacific islands just got more affordable thanks to the latest Qantas Red Tail sale. Starting at $509 return, you can take off to a handful of destinations including New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and New Caledonia.

Where can I travel?

The Pacific Red Tail Qantas sale includes discounted flights to six countries, as well as one Australian territory.

While the cheapest flights in the sale are to New Zealand (from $509 return), the ones we’re most excited about are the more tropical South Pacific destinations like Fiji (from $579 return) and New Caledonia (from $549 return).

You can travel to:

• Australia: Norfolk Island
• Fiji: Nadi, Suva
• New Caledonia: Noumea
• New Zealand: Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown, Wellington
• Samoa: Apia
• Tonga: Nukualofa
• USA: Honolulu, Kauai, Maui

Flights are available from Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, with the most destinations and cheapest fares available from Sydney.

When are these Qantas sale flights available?

Availability changes a bit depending on where you’re going, but most flights are available from January to September, 2024.

That leaves plenty of opportunity to pre-plan a winter getaway for next year to a tropical hot spot. Or, if skiing is more your style, to hit the slopes in New Zealand.

As with. most sales, school holiday periods and major public holidays, like Easter, are excluded.

What’s included in the price?

Overall, how good is this sale?

For a full-service airline, these prices are pretty good! We often see Jetstar sales to destinations like Fiji or New Zealand going in the $200+ each way range. Considering these ones include extras like checked bags and food, it could be worth spending the extra bit for the full-service flight.
