Virgin Australia flights for $55 in new “Aussie staycay sale” 🦘

The Bay of Fires in Tasmania, where you can travel to with the Virgin Australia Aussie Staycay Sale.

Choose from 13 routes for less than $100, including peak summer dates.

After skipping its usual Thursday Happy Hour sale in favour of a domestic flight sale, Virgin Australia flights are going for as low as $55.

It’s the usual suspect at the $55 price point: Sydney to/from Ballina-Byron, with Melbourne-Launceston flights inching closer to that cheapest-fare mark at $59.

When are these cheap Virgin Australia flights available?

June 2023 to February 2024.

While dates do change depending on the route, there’s a huge range included in this sale. We found most school holidays (including most of January) were blacked out.

Aside from Byron Bay, we also found popular beach destinations were generally available during the peak summer months. But if you’re looking to explore Tasmania, we found plenty of dates in January were included, too.

What airline is this “Aussie staycay sale” with?

Virgin Australia.

What’s included in the price?

Inching its way closer and closer to becoming a budget airline, Virgin only includes the promise of a seat, a carry-on bag and access to its entertainment system (via your own device, unfortunately) with your fare. If you want to check a bag, pick where on the plane you sit or eat on the flight, you’ll need to pay extra.

Can I get any frequent flyer points?

Yes! One of the perks of flying with Virgin is that you can collect Velocity Points with your fare.

How to book these flights
