When are these cheap flights available?

Travel dates vary greatly in this sale, with some routes available for immediate travel in March and February, while others aren’t available until October or November.

What’s great though, is that there’s plenty of availability during favourable travel times.

For example, the $49 flights to Byron Bay are available in just about any month, including March. Or, you can fly to Uluru (Ayers Rock) in the Red Centre during the comfortable winter months from $139 each way. Why not fly to Japan from $679 return in May or June before the hot and humid summer weather hits?

What’s included in the price?

You’ll just get the basics with any Virgin Australia sale, which means your ticket includes:

  • A guaranteed seat on the plane
  • 7kg of carry-on luggage
  • Tea, coffee or water onboard
  • Access to the in-flight entertainment system (on your own device, most likely)

If you want to check a bag, choose your seat or have a meal during the flight, you can pay extra for that.

Can I get any frequent flyer points?

Yep! You can earn Velocity Frequent Flyer points with any Virgin flight, regardless of whether it’s a sale fare.

Overall, how good is this sale?

Great! It’s very much on-par with the Black Friday sale a few months back, which also had flights from $49 each way. The first few cheapest flights in this sale are pretty much the same as the one in November, just with slightly different (but still favourable) travel dates.

How to book these flights
