Mark your calendars, because here’s when to get the best deal on a flight, cruise, hotel and more. From Australia Day in January to Boxing Day in December, there’s more than a dozen big events on the travel sales calendar that you should know about.

January travel sales
Australia Day sale
The perfect excuse to discount flights, hotels, cruises, tours and more right in our backyard, Australia Day travel sales have been creeping into our calendar over the last couple of years.
When is it? 26 January

- Qantas flights around Australia from $99
- Discounted Qatar flights from Australia
- 5% off domestic flights booked with Budgetair.com
- Up to 15% off Air Canada flights from Australia to North America
February travel sales
Valentine’s Day
You may think of rich chocolates and fancy dinners when you think of Valentine’s Day, but we think of romantic getaways. And, luckily, so do many airlines and hotels.
When is it? 14 February
What we’ve seen in the past:
- $99 flights within Australia with Qantas
- Discounted overseas flights with Etihad when you book for at least two people
- $69 domestic flights with Virgin Australia
March travel sales
St Patrick’s Day
It’s probably no surprise which destination tends to go. on sale come mid-March. To celebrate all things Irish, we’ve seen discounted tours of the Emerald Isle and flights there from Australia.
When is it? 17 March

April travel sales
Easter long weekend
This four-day weekend is a great time to travel and a great time to book a travel deal. Things kick off with Good Friday where you may be able also be able to get a deal with the Jetstar Friday Fare Frenzy, too.
When is it? Easter’s date changes each year. In 2024 Good Friday is on 29 March and Easter Monday is on 1 April.

May travel sales
Jetstar’s Birthday Sale
It may be Jetstar‘s birthday in May, but it’s the passengers who are given the gifts. Every year, the airline throws a huge sale on either domestic or international flights, and sometimes both.
When is it? Early May, but the exact date varies each year.
Deals we’ve seen in the past
- Prices that correspond with the airline’s age (i.e. $9 flights for its ninth birthday)
- Return for free fares where you only need to pay for your flight in one direction
Mother’s Day sales
Whether you’re looking for the perfect gift for mum or just an excuse to get away, more companies are starting to put on discounts just for Mother’s Day. They usually start a few days before too, just in case you have left buying gifts to the last minute.
When is it? The second Sunday in May. In 2024, that’s 12 May.

Click Frenzy Mayhem
Running at roughly the opposite time of the year to October’s Click Frenzy The Main Event, Mayhem also features a huge number of deals from some of the most popular online shopping sites. While this isn’t a dedicated travel sale, there’s usually a good dozen or so travel offers from airlines, hotel booking sites, activities operators and travel insurers.
When is it? It’s in May, but the 2024 sale hasn’t been announced yet.

- 10% off Qatar Airways flights
- 10% off Air New Zealand flights
- 15% off travel insurance policies from InsureandGo
June travel sales
End of financial year sales
It’s much more than just tech and cars that go on sale at the Australian end of the financial year. Some of the biggest names in travel offer discounts in late-June and into early-July for travel right through the end of the year and beyond.
When is it? Mid- to late-June.

July travel sales
Travel deals tend to take a bit of a break in July, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a random flash sale.
Plus, you can always rely on regular sale events like Jetstar’s Friday Fare Frenzy and Virgin Australia’s Happy Hour sale.
August travel sales
Afterpay Day
Organised by Afterpay, the buy-now-pay-later service that’s taken Australia by storm over the last few years, this event features tons of deals in travel, fashion, tech and more. Just about anyone who accepts Afterpay often has a deal and it’s a great time to book a trip and the perfect to pack for it. The beauty of it? You don’t have to use Afterpay to get these deals! (But, you can if you want.)
When is it? It varies slightly every year, but is usually in mid-August. The 2024 sale dates haven’t yet been announced.

Click Frenzy Travel
You may have heard of Click Frenzy, one of the biggest online shopping events of the year when hundreds of well-known brands host dedicated sales with deep discounts for just a few days at a time. After great success, a dedicated travel event was launched featuring just-as-good deals from beloved Australian and international travel brands.
When is it? The exact dates vary each year, but it’s usually in late-October. The 2024 sale date hasn’t been announced yet.

September travel sales
Like July, September tends to be a quieter month when it comes to regular travel sales. but, get ready, because the tail end of the year is packed full of sales you won’t want to miss.
October travel sales
Click Frenzy The Main Event
Coming just weeks before Black Friday as a great little teaser to the sales season, Click Frenzy’s Main Event is a huge deal. Thousands of deals across hundreds of brands are available for three days in late October. This sale isn’t just dedicated to travel though. So if you’re looking for tech, fashion, beauty products and even insurance, this is one you’ll want to mark down.
When is it? 24-26 October.

- 15% off Allianz travel insurance policies
- $25 off activities booked on Adrenaline when you spent $175 or more
Amazon Prime Day
You’re right in thinking that Amazon doesn’t sell travel, but it does sell plenty of accessories, gadgets and clothing that you’ll definitely need on your holiday. So, keep an eye out for deals on luggage, headphones, new shoes and more on Amazon Prime day.
When is it? 10-11 October.

November travel sales
Black Friday
After years of huge retail sales in the US, Black Friday is quickly becoming the biggest day to shop online for just about everything. Plenty of big-name travel brands including cruise lines, airlines and hotel chains are in on it.
When is it? 24 November.

Cyber Monday
Carrying through the weekend, Black Friday sales turn into Cyber Monday bargains. It’s become well-known for its tech deals so if you’re after a new camera, noise-cancelling headphones for a long flight or a laptop to blog your adventures, today’s the day.
When is it? 27 November.

Boxing Day travel deals
The huge after-Christmas deals we used to flock to the shopping centres for are now all online and include plenty of travel deals. While you may not be able to bag a last-minute New Year’s escape, but if you’re looking to stuff your 2024 full of travel for a low price, Boxing Day is the time to do it.
When is it? 26 December.
